Hello, thenewleafer.

I'll share some details about the available deposit schedules, and how to handle your quarterly AZ state income tax payments in QuickBooks.

Currently, we can only set the deposit schedule to monthly or semi-weekly. We're unable to use the quarterly schedule for AZ income taxes.

We would want to manually pay those income taxes directly to the state agency in the meantime.

Then, we'll want to manually record the tax payment in QuickBooks:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select the Payroll tax tab.
  2. Click the Payments button.
  3. Scroll down, and select Prior tax history
  4. Click the Add payment button.
  5. Add and enter the tax payment information.
  6. Once done, hit OK

We can also turn the Automate taxes and forms feature if we want more control on how we want to handle taxes. This can help us prevent duplicate payments or filing errors when we file our taxes manually. Here's how to turn it off:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Payroll settings.
  2. Expand the Taxes and forms section by clicking on Edit.
  3. Uncheck the Automate taxes and forms box.
  4. Select how you want to handle the taxes.
  5. Hit Save then Done

More details about the Automate taxes and forms feature can be found here: Manage automatic tax payments and form filings.

Though, we can send feedback to our developers and payroll compliance team to add the quarterly deposit schedule. Simply click on the Gear icon, then select Feedback

This way, we would have flexibility and ensure that you're able to pay and deposit your tax payments directly through QuickBooks.

Want to check your employees' current payroll data and other payroll-related numbers? We can pull up reports to see the needed information. Check out this article if we need a guide or two: Run payroll reports.

I'll be around if you have more questions regarding your payroll service. If you happen to come across any difficulties running payroll or recording other entries, let me know and I'll work with you. I'll see you again soon.

Embarrassed for INTU

For my business the AZ state income tax is due quarterly. How do I change the setting in Quickbooks to make it a quarterly payment instead of monthly?

Just migrated from QB Pro 2020 (didn't have a choice. They are elimnating all desktop versions I was told by Intuit).  I thought intuit was charging $500+ a year, to be the experts on what, when and how taxes are to be paid? I am embarrassed for intuit, because AZ income tax is not due monthly, or sem-weekly, for quarterly liabilities under $500.  Can be paid quarterly.

Why do I have to instruct intuit how to do this????   Thought they were the payroll experts?

And on top of that, FUTA tax is being incorrectly acrued, with the wrong pecentage!

They have us owing over $400, for YTD, when all of last year, we only paid $82.   They obviously do not understand how you get a credit against the state SUI.  Very disappointed in cloud version. Have been using Intuit's products since quicken for DOS! and Quickbooks when it first came out!  Tax tables started out at

$19.95/year. went to 29.95, 69.95, 99.95, 129.95, 149.95, 169.99.......Last paid over $500/year on desktop version QB pro 2020!

Would have thought Intuit should have fixed that bug by now. Aizona hasn't changed that rule for over 40 years!
