For some reason, when I apply a mileage tracking rule for a trip that I make daily, nothing happens. I still have to manually apply the business trip by swiping left on all of the trips.

Hello there, cbeache1,

You'll want to check if your QuickBooks Self-Employed app is up-to-date. Go to Google Store or App Store and see if it needs to be updated.

Furthermore, if there are slight changes or even a character difference, it might not be detected by the system. Thus, it's unable to tag the trip as Business.

Check this article to learn more: Manage favorite locations in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you have other concerns.

The app is updated and I have multiple saved favorite locations set up. Attached is an example of fave locations with rules stating they are for business purposes. I should not have to manually swipe left to assign it to a business expense.

Hello again, @cbeache1

Thanks for getting back and providing a screenshot.

To further isolate the issue, I recommend clearing the app's cache. These are junk files which can cause unusual behavior in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) Mobile App.

Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Android
    1. Go to Settings and select Apps.
    2. Choose QuickBooks Self-Employed and click on Storage.
    3. Select Clear Data.
  2. iOS:
    1. Go to Settings and select Setting General iPhone Storage.
    2. Select the Offload App.

Also, you'll want to uninstall and reinstall the app. This resolves any data issue that can trigger an error. Let's just make sure to review all your pending trips first. Those will be removed from your account once you've uninstalled it.

You can use the below links when reinstalling the app:

Once done, try to recreate the rule. Check to see if it now works.

As always, you can get back to me by commenting below if you have any follow-up questions. I'm more than happy to answer it. Take care.
