Form 941 Schedule B

I’m trying to file my Q2 Form 941 and Schedule B. The amounts on my Form B aren’t matching my payroll summaries or my form 941. The Form B is showing $5916.42 while 941 line 3 shows $1906 which i believe is correct.
Where are these numbers populated from? If I manually change them to match what I believe they should be will it mess up anything going forward?

Form 941 Schedule B

Glad that you’ve reached out to us today, @SEI2020.

Allow me to share some steps to sort this out.

Let’s make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is up-to-date. Aside from security fixes, software updates can also include new or enhanced features and improve stability.

You can follow these steps below to update:

  1. Select Help from the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Go to the Update Now tab, then mark the Reset Update checkbox.
  4. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  5. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  6. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

Once done, you’ll want to get the latest payroll tax table also. After, you can double-check and verify the total amount of tax listed on the Payroll Summary. You’ll have to run the Q2 report again. Please ensure to adjust the date range appropriately.

You can use this reference to know how QuickBooks populates each line from your payroll: How QuickBooks Populates The 941.

I also added this article in case there are other lines in the form that aren’t matched on your file: Troubleshooting amounts in Form 941/Sch. B - Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions. Stay safe.
