How do I change the confirmation email address for 1099s? I checked all settings and users. I do not use the payroll feature, I just create 1099 at end of year.

I do not have Payroll Setting under the gear icon. I checked the users and the email address being used isn't one of the current users. I use the online version of Quickbooks.

I'm glad to share the details on how you can update the confirmation email address for 1099s.

 

You can update the email address from the Company Settings. Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account, then select Account and settings from the Gear icon.
  2. Click on Company under Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Contact Info section, then modify the email address from there.
  4. Hit Save, then Done.

Once done, you're now ready to prepare/create your 1099 Form. For additional tips, you can open this link: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the quick reply. The email under our company information is correct. So are the emails under the administrators. The confirmation email for the 1099 is not referencing any of these.

I appreciate the things you've done to update your email address linked to your 1099. I can show you another way where you can update your 1099 confirmation email.

 

You can log in to the Intuit 1099 E-file Service portal and click the Company settings hyperlink. Then, select Contact Information. On the Edit Contact Information page, you can make changes to the email address. I've added some screenshots for your reference:

 

 

Just in case you're not able to change the email address, you can use an incognito browser. This is done to eliminate any unwanted data. Here are the shortcut keys to access a private browser:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge & Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Hold down + Option +

Hello, I have the same question as the person who posted the question on January 9.

How do I change the confirmation email address for 1099s? I checked all settings and users. I do not use the payroll feature, I just create 1099 at end of year.

 

I just completed the E-File for Form 1099, and I didn't see an opportunity to change my email address before submitting. Once again, the confirmation will be sent to an outdated address. 

I've followed the fix outlined  by

Thanks for the screenshot and I appreciate your effort doing all the steps to update the email confirmation. 

 

The screenshot and link given by MarsStephanieL is applicable if you're using the Intuit Online Payroll platform (a standalone payroll product). 

 

Since all of the details are correct in your Account and settings page, you'll want to contact our support at this point. They can pull up your account securely and force the system to change the confirmation email. I'd like to do it here. However, I'm unable to access sensitive information in a public space for security purposes. 

 

To reach out to our support: 

 

  1. Open the Help menu at the top right part of the screen, then click the Contact us button.
  2. Type something like "Change 1099 confirmation email.
  3. Click Continue
  4. Select either Send a message or Get a callback.
