How do I change the HSA contribution limit in QB online?

I have one employee who is set to max out at $3600, but my QB says the limit is $3550, which is last years amount. I want the employee to be able to get the max.

How do I change the HSA contribution limit in QB online?

Hello @robert129,

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to help you change the limit successfully in QuickBooks Online.

Please make sure the max amount reflected from the employee's profile is correct. Let's review the deduction item and ensure it's showing the right figure after making the changes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Click the employee's name.
  3. Select edit ✎ beside Pay
  4. Go to section 5, then click Add/edit deductions.
  5. Press the pencil icon beside the deduction.
  6. Change the annual maximum amount.
  7. Hit Save
  8. Check the annual maximum is correct.

If it's still showing the same limit, the browser's stored cache may be full. It can cause unusual behavior in the system, such as being unable to replace the amount for employee HSA.

You can proceed by logging into your QBO account using a private browser. It doesn't store data in the cache and will be a great way to isolate browser-related issues.

If you're using Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press the CTRL + Shift + P shortcut on your keyboard. For Safari, hit Command + Shift + N. Press CTRL + Shift + N if you're using Google Chrome.

From there, go to the profile again and update the information. If it works, let's clear your browser's cache to have a clean slate, so it'll function efficiently. If private browsing doesn't work, use another supported web engine to get the most secure experience with the program.

I've also attached an article you can visit to learn how HSA contributions reflect in the W-2 forms: Set up Health Savings Account (HSA) plans.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you need more help with the deductions or managing payroll in QuickBooks. Take care.
