How do I delete a work location in Online Payroll Core?

I accidentally added an incorrect work location for an employee, and the address happens to be out of state. Now, I am paying a multi-state fee in my monthly bill AND the system is asking for filing numbers for out of state. But it was an error and I need to delete the wrong address.

Hello, @usernilesmidas.

 

I'm here to ensure you're able to delete/inactive the incorrect location in your account. That way, you'll not be charged with the wrong multi-state. 

 

Let's inactive the incorrect work location in your QuickBooks Online Payroll Core (QBOPC). Inactivating process is the same as with deletion. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then click Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Company and Account, click Work Locations.

     

       3. Select Work Locations.

       4. Mark the Inactive checkbox.

       5. Tap Save.

 

 

Once done, you can now add the correct work location. Then assign to the appropriate employee. For more information, check out this article: Set up and assign a new work location.

 

In regards to the multi-state fee that you've already paid, I'd recommend communicating with our Payroll Support. They have tools to check the charge and can provide a resolution about this matter. 

 

Let me guide you how: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, then choose Contact Us
  2. Enter your concern in the box and hit Let's talk
  3. Choose either Get a call or Start a chat
  4. Complete the necessary information and submit the request. 

Please call them within our business hours to ensure we cater to your concern promptly.

That's it. QuickBooks will no longer ask for filing numbers for that state. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have other questions about QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help you out.

Thank you for the detailed reply, however I cannot see the same screen as in your step 2.

 

I choose the gear icon then Payroll settings, but the next screen doesn't look like yours. Please see attached  screenshot.

To further assists you with this, I recommend getting in touch with our payroll support team. They use specific tools to pull up your account and to help you fix the work location. To do so, please refer to these steps:

  1. At the top right, click the Help icon.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Under What can we help you with, enter a brief description of your concern.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. You'll be routed into the Choose a way to connect with us page.
  6. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.
