How do I delete a worker from the contractor's list? They are an employee rather than a contractor. I can't add them as an emp. until I delete as a cont. Thanks!

To delete a worker from the contractor's list, you'll need to make it inactive in QuickBooks Online.  

Here's how:

1. On the left pane, click Expenses.
2. Click Vendors tab.
3. Select the vendor you need to delete.
4. On the top right, click Edit.
5. On the bottom left of the Vendor Information, click Make inactive.
6. Click Yes to confirm.

You can edit the name of the contractor before making them inactive, which will avoid a duplicate entry when you set up the employee.

what if i actually just want to delete them entirely?

QuickBooks doesn't entirely remove the data when deleting a contractor. The system or program only makes his/her profile inactive.

We can make the contractor activate again. Then, edit the profile and make it inactive once more.

1. Select Workers on the left menu and go to the Contractors tab.
2. Under Contractors, select Inactive to filter the list.
3. Click the deleted contractor and change the status to Make as active.
4. Click Add and select the Contractor type.
5. Edit the contractor's information and click Save.
6. Click Active and select Make as inactive.

Then, you can continue creating an employee profile.

We won't be able to delete a contractor's profile in QuickBooks. We can only make them inactive from the system.

Thanks - Would just like to understand why this isn't possible?  The entry was misspelled initially and now that entry is just cluttering up my vendor list.

Completely deleting the contractor's profile is not possible due to data security reasons. Though, you can edit the contractor's profile to correct the misspelled names or information.
