How do I fix a clerical error in payroll for payroll that has already been paid out to employees

I can help you with editing your payroll, @chapelhillcooper.

You can edit an approved manual paycheck from your most recent payroll. The process depends on whether or not you have already delivered the paycheck to the employee.

You can edit the check numberfederal and state income taxsalary amounthours workedhourly rate, and active deduction amount. Here's how:

  1. Go to that paycheck and select Edit.
  2. Update all the necessary information.
  3. Select Save and close.

For a processed direct deposit paycheck:

  1. Go to that paycheck and select Edit.
  2. You can change the same editable items as for an approved manual paycheck. The net pay will be locked to its original amount.
  3. Once you change an item, a payroll correction is automatically added and will be resolved on the employee's next paycheck(s).

Check this article for more information: Change an employee paycheck.

However, if you need to edit other items, then I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support. They have the tools to get into your account and perform this in a secure environment.  Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help icon to connect to a live support agent.
  2. Click on the Contact Us button and provide some details about this concern.
  3. Provide us some information about your concern in the What can we help you with? box and click on Continue.
  4. You'll now be provided options on how to connect to our Customer Support.

Here's the contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team article for more information. You can also check on the following article to know the different types of support we offer and its availability: Support hours and types.
