How do I get the updated tax forms for 2018 on QB PRO 2015

I am using QB Pro 2015 which the "friendly" folks at Intuit decided to stop supporting in 2018. I closed my business in 2018 so I have no use for QB anymore however I still need to file 940 and W2/W3 forms for 2018. Unfortunately the 2018 tax forms will not update. I do not want to be forced to buy the newest version of QB just to file these forms. Is there any other way around this?

Thanks for being part of the QuickBooks family. I want to be sure you’re able to file your 940 and W-2 forms 2018.

In cases like this, you’ll have to manually file the tax forms and send them to the appropriate agencies. To get the payroll data, run the Tax Form Worksheet Report.


Here's how:


  1.  Go to Reports at the top menu bar, then select Employees & Payroll.
  2. Choose More Payroll Reports in Excel, then click on Tax Form Worksheets.
  3. If prompted by the Excel security warning saying macros are not enabled in Excel, follow the directions to enable it.
  4. Choose Annual W-2/W-3 or Annual 940.
  5. Click on the Create Report tab.
  6. Then copy the data and transfer them to the tax form you’re working on.

You cannot. QB 2015 has been 'sunset' by intuit and no longer receives payroll updates.


If you intended to use it for payroll, upgrade to a new version that supports Enhanced payroll.
