Thanks for sharing the Paid Sick Leave Ordinance, jplastics.

Yes, you're right that you need to set up sick time on a 30 hour basis. On the hours accrued paid, enter two (2) minutes.

Let me know how this goes. I'll be right here if you need more help.

Hi there, jplastics.

I'll show you how to set up sick leave accruals for the new Texas law. Please follow the steps below.

Here's how:

1. At the top, Click Employees, then Employee Center.
2. To edit information, double-click the employee's name.
3. Select the Payroll Info tab, then click Sick/Vacation at the right corner.
4. Under Hours available as of mm/dd/yyyy field, enter the number of paid sick hours that are currently available for the employee to use.
5. Under the Accrual period, select Every hour on a paycheck.
6. Under the Hours Accrued field, enter 0.02.00 (60 minutes/30 hours).

7. When a new accrual year begins and you want sick hours to reset to zero, select Reset hours each new year?.
8. You can enter other information needed.
9. Click OK to save changes.

Please check out this article for more details and to set up vacation accruals on an employee profile: Set up and pay sick and vacation time.

@jplastics

Could you provide a link to the new law you are referring to?

All I can find is that neither Texas nor the Fed requires employers to provide for sick time

A couple of cities have passed such a law, but they are on hold since some law suits have been filed.

Yes-this only effects a couple of cities in Texas-I'm in San Antonio.  Austin is on hold because of a lawsuit.  I'm trying to get ahead of this nasty situation. Its called the Paid Sick Leave Ordinance-https://www.govdocs.com/san-antonio-passes-new-paid-sick-leave-ordinance/

Your instruction are much appreciated, but I need to set this up with the ability to earn the sick time based on the 30 hours of work performed.  I have seen formulas that involve this method with a 40 hour basis but I need it on a 30 hour basis.  So I know I need to change the option under the Accrual period tab to be Ever hour on paycheck and  to  reflect hours accrued per hour paid-this is the area that confuses me.
