I am delighted to have you here, @cominghomecomo.

You can run an unscheduled payroll so you'll be able to manually edit the dates to the next period.

Here's how to create a manual paycheck:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Payroll Center.
  3. Click the Start Unscheduled Payroll button.
  4. Select an employee and click the Open Paycheck Detail tab.
  5. Make sure the direct deposit is not checked.
  6. Choose the Pay Period for this paycheck and make sure the taxes are correct before clicking Save & Close.
  7. Click Continue and review the paycheck details before creating the paycheck.

When using a payroll schedule, to skip a pay period, edit the schedule using the button just below the table where your scheduled payroll(s) appear.  Change the dates to the next appropriate dates.

RE: You can run an unscheduled payroll so you'll be able to manually edit the dates to the next period:

Using an unscheduled payroll for the next payroll will not fix the scheduled payroll, but only make it worse.  After this is done, then the schedule will be two periods behind.

The only way to fix a schedule that is off, for whatever reason, is to edit the schedule and change the dates so they correctly match the actual next payroll.

My question is the same as the original. Only one employee, did not work any hours in the entire pay period so the pay period now shows as overdue. I see no need to run an unscheduled payroll as there were no hours work. I want to skip the entire pay period and not have it show as overdue. There has to be a simpler way then going in and changing the schedule. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I'll be more than happy to help you with this, redeem.

You're right, we don't have to run unscheduled payroll for this one since there were no number of hours worked. We can edit the pay period end date to its next end date so that it will not be shown as overdue.

Let me show you how:

  1. Select Employees from the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Payroll Center.
  3. Under the Create Paychecks table, select the payroll schedule you want to update.
  4. From the Payroll Schedules drop-down, select Edit Schedule.
  5. Make the necessary changes in the What is the pay period end date? and What should appear on paychecks date for this period? questions.
  6. Click Yes to update the payroll schedule for all the employees assigned to it.
  7. Hit OK.
