Join nowI can help you with cancelling your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account to stop the monthly payments, @hdblanksma-gmail.
To stop the monthly recurring payments, you must cancel the account from the Billing info page.
Here's how:
After the cancellation, you'll no longer be billed for the monthly subscription. Also, you can still access QBSE through the end of your billing period. You can refer to the following article for more information about this: Cancel your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription.
However, the feature to delete your profile is unavailable in QBSE. We'll keep your account data for a year after the cancellation in case you'd like to resubscribe with your existing data.
You may consider deleting your data instead before cancelling the account. Check this article for more information about deleting your bank accounts and transactions and all other information: Delete bank and transaction data in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
In case you’d like to go back to your QBSE account, here’s an article that tells you more on how to resubscribe with the existing information that you have: Resubscribe to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Let me know if you still have questions about managing your monthly subscription by leaving a reply below. Take care and have a great rest of the day!

Let me help share how you can cancel your account, @Brenda84.
There are times that your browser is full of resources that can cause weird browsing activity while working with QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). This can be the reason why you don't have the Gear icon for your profile to unsubscribe.
Let's consider logging into your QBSE account using a private browser to isolate this issue. You can follow the shortcut keys suggestion below for easy access:
From here, cancel your account accordingly with the steps above and if this works, clear your regular browser's cache to improve your browsing experience. But if you get the same behavior, use a different browser application instead.
On that same page, here's an article you can read to learn more about how to cancel a subscription from a mobile device: Cancel your Subscription bought through a Mobile App Store.
Finally, I've also included this reference helpful in understanding what happens after your subscription is canceled: The length of time QuickBooks stores your data under our data retention policy.
You can always leave a comment below if you have follow-up questions with account cancelation or start a new thread if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to lend a hand. Stay safe!
