In QuickBooks Online Payroll, we can’t directly edit W‑2s to add or change local/occupational taxes. Here's the process of correcting the information and filing forms:
First, verify and correct the employee details for future payroll:
Next, confirm the company's Work locations match where the employee actually works. Here's how:
These changes won’t affect past paychecks or W‑2s. Correcting prior periods requires a payroll correction case, which our Live Payroll Support team can process. You can contact them via the Get help with QuickBooks products and services article, which also lists their support hours.
If you haven't filed the W-2s yet, you can file them as you normally would after the payroll correction. Otherwise, you'll have to file the W-2C forms with our support. For more information, visit Fix an incorrect W-2 and W-3.
Remind affected employees that a W‑2C is forthcoming and the original W‑2 shouldn’t be used for local tax filing.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else.
