I have only one employee and we are located in California. We have an EIN No. but that's it, do I need something else?

How to I set up to pay payroll taxes?

Let me show you how to set up your payroll.


In addition to the EIN, you also need the following details:

  • Company information
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Employees
  • Direct deposit
  • Tax information
  • Prior payrolls
  • Liability information

You can get some of the details from federal and state agencies, especially the tax information. Employee's name, address, social security number, dependents are needed for accurate withholding calculation. Also, you may not be able to run payroll if there's missing info.
