How to terminate an employee

I have read how to terminate employee, but I do not have an action bar with drop down. Can someone please help me?

Welcome to the Community, @mneilson17. I'd be glad to help you with updating your employee's status. 

 

Here's how you can mark an employee as terminated in QuickBooks Online:

 

  1. Click Workers on the left navigation menu and choose Employees.
  2. Select the employee's name from the list. 
  3. Click the Pencil icon next to Employment
  4. Select the Status drop-down and choose Terminated.
  5. Click Done.

That's it. Using this information, I'm confident you'll have the employee's status updated in no time.

When I select the employee, it does not take me to the screen that is in the video. It goes to a page that says "Edit Employee Info".

Thanks for following up with me and providing that clarification, @mneilson17.

 

To ensure that I'm on the same page, when you select the employee do you have an option towards the top of the screen that says Employment? If so, would choose that option and follow the steps that I included above. The following is a screenshot to serve as a reference:

 

 

Additionally, based on your screenshot, it looks like you've run payroll in the account. However, if you haven't you will not be able to access the Employment section. In an instance like this, you would need to contact support. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Help icon in the upper right of the screen.
  2. Select Contact US on the pop-up. 
  3. Enter your question in the How can we help? field and choose Continue
  4. Click Get a callback.
  5. Enter your contact information.
  6. Select Call me.

Should you not see the option for Get a callback, you can toggle it by entering Support in How can we help?.
