I am an assisted payroll and switched from desktop to online and I am trying to set up payroll

Welcome to the Community space, @kdavis3.

Congrats on making a switch to QuickBooks Online. I'll be glad to assist you in setting up payroll in QBO.

When you switch from QBDT to QBO, the process brings some payroll details. You can use the payroll reports in QuickBooks Desktop to set up your payroll in QuickBooks Online. This may take a while depending on your number of employees. I'll guide you how:

  1.  In QuickBooks Desktop, run a Payroll Summary report. You need this report to set up your employees in QuickBooks Online. Print it or save it as a PDF for your records.
  2. Go to the Workers or Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  3. Select Get Started with Payroll to begin the setup process.
  4. Enter in the company, employee, and tax information.
  5. Once completed, you will see a Run payroll button on your Employees screen.

Once done, you'll just have to enter your employees' hours and we'll do the calculation for you.

For more details, you can click this article: Get started with Payroll. It also contains steps on how to create paychecks, pay, and file taxes in QuickBooks.

You can also contact our Assisted Payroll Support Team. They have tools that can guide in setting up payroll in a secure environment and help you in case you encounter some issues.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Select Confirm my call.
