I entered the wrong dates for payroll. How do I erase it and start over with the correct date?

Hello there, The Sprinkler Man Inc.

Good to see you here in QuickBooks Community. I'm here to help and guide you on how to correct the dates of your payroll.

In this case, you can void and recreate the paychecks to manually enter the correct pay period. Let me walk you through the process.

To void paycheck, here's how:

  1. At the top menu bar, click Employees.
  2. Go to the Payroll Center.
  3. Select Pay Employees tab.
  4. At the bottom, from the Other Activities list, click Edit/Void Paycheck.
  5. Enter a date range in the Show paychecks from and through fields, and click on the display area to show the checks.
  6. Click to select the check you want to void.
  7. Select the Void button.
  8. Follow the instructions in the message that appears.
  9. Click the Done button to close the Edit/Void Paychecks window.

For additional reference, you can check this article on how to void a paycheck.

Once done, you can now  create paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll with the correct dates.

However, if this is for Direct Deposit and the paycheck was offloaded for ACH processing, we can no longer void it. Offloading the deposit happens at exactly 5:00 pm Pacific time, 2 banking days before the paycheck date.

In this case, I encourage you getting in touch with our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Support. They have the tools to pull up your account and check the status of the direct deposit paycheck.

Here's how to contact our support:

  1. Click this link: https://payroll.intuit.com/support/contact/?infosrc=qs&service=16.
  2. Select your payroll subscription.
  3. Choose Payroll for the topic.
  4. Click View Contact Info to get the phone number.

That should do it! Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have any other concerns about Paycheck. I'm always here to help you out. Wishing you and your business continued success.
