I’m always drive to different places for work because I mow, on average my first trip is about 3 miles. On rainy days I pressure wash. It was 30 miles away & the only job I did. Can I count any of the miles for taxes?

I couldn’t fit the details in the first one so here it is.
I’m not sure how to apply my travel for taxes. I usually drive to many different places for work in a day, as I do lawn care for a living and pressure washing on the rainy days. My first trip is usually about 3 miles on a topical mowing day. Today, I was pressure washing a home, but it was about 30 miles away. That is the only job I did. Can I count any of it for tax deductible?

I'd like to explain how QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates your mileage deduction, Elijah-goins.

Our program automatically calculates the total mileage you can write off when it's tax time.

We use the standard mileage rate from the IRS to help estimate your tax write-off. To know if it's tax-deductible, you can try to calculate it manually. QuickBooks multiplies the total business miles by the current rate.

For more information, you can check this article about learning how QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates your mileage deduction.

If there's anything else that I can do for you, please feel free to reach out.

That doesn’t really answer my question. I do not have a permanent work location. The first one is always different. Yesterday, for example I only had one job to do but it was way farther than I normally ever go by 20 miles or so. I left home, where my equipment is & went strait there & then strait back. Can I count any of that for tax deductible miles?

Hello there, @elijah-goins.

Yes, you can count that for your tax-deductible miles. You can track and calculate any business mileage deductions to claim at tax time. Here's a link that provides more information about Mileage in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can follow what my colleague @Kristine Mae has provided about how to calculate the mileage.
