Unresponsive behaviors in QuickBooks Online are sometimes affected by issues in the web browser. Have you tried using a private window, and see if the same issue happens?
If you haven't done that yet, use following keyboard shortcuts to open a private window for different browsers:
Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift + N
If you can open the Employees tab successfully, clear the browser's cache. This method removes the history to start with a clean slate.
