I prepared my 1099s and e-filed them with the Intuit 1099 E-File Service. Where is the 1096 form?

As long as you're using our 1099 E-file Service, you don't need to file Form 1096. For more information regarding the service, please refer to our 1099's E-file FAQ here.
 

You can also check the recent publication on Form 1096 from the IRS.
 

If you’d like to have a copy of your 1096 in QuickBooks Online, I can help you print the form. Here’s how:
 

1. Select Expenses from the left menu.
2. Choose Vendors.
3. Click Prepare 1099s.
4. Enter all information correctly for the tax year, then select Print and mail.
5. Choose the 1096 form. If everything looks good, select Yes, looks good! Then select Print on a 1096 Form.
6. If the form needs to be aligned, select No, it doesn't line up and select Next. Then re-select the 1096 form, and select Print on a 1096 Form.

This is my first time using the E-file service.  I am accustomed to manually filing and wanted to be sure I had not overlooked the steps to create the 1096.

I have prepared and printed my 1099's. Success! However, unlike my 1099s, when I go to print my 1096s there is only ONE vendor when there should be 4. Where are the other 3? Do I have to map the vendors for a 1096?

The 1096 will only generate how many vendors there are instead of showing names.

 We can sort this out by performing our recommended basic troubleshooting steps when printing the 1096. 

Storing a lot of files in the history folder can be the cause of the issue. This could be the reason are times we encounter unusual behavior in software like QuickBooks.

First, we'll need to log in to your account using an incognito window. I'm adding the shortcut keys below depending on the browser you're using:

• For Google Chrome, you can press  Ctrl + Shift + N.
• For Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, you can press  Ctrl + Shift + P.

If it works, you can clear the cache. This is to start your data fresh and help QuickBooks to work properly. Alternatively, you can use other supported browser in QBO.

I used the 1099 Quick File service in February to file one 1099.  How do I find and recover and print this?

I'll share with you the steps on how to recover and print your 2019 1099 form. Below are the easy steps.

1. Open a browser and go to https://iop.intuit.com/1099/login. This will route you to our 1099 E-file Service page.
2. Log in using your User ID and Password.
3. Click View past forms and then Print.
