I received the following message for Q4-21According to the IRS, the Filer type (941) you have provided is not accurate. My previous filings have been accepted?

I was able to view my (accepted) Q3 filing. Where can I find the Q-4 filing that was rejected so I can determine what the problem is. It isn't in archived or current.

I'm here to ensure you're able to file your forms without getting rejected, frameofmind707-g

There are possible causes why payroll tax forms are rejected, and I've listed them below.

  • Incorrect PIN for e-filing
  • Credential Vault might be corrupted.
  • Updated the e-payment bank account in QuickBooks but didn't change it on the EFTPS.gov website.

Also, I'm adding these resources about what you can do when e-filing or e-payment is rejected:

Just let me know if you have more questions about payroll and forms. I'm always here to help. Have a good one.

Thanks, but the link you provided is broken. My e-payment was accepted as I verified on the EFTPS site, and my previous quarters have been accepted. The message I received said According to the IRS, the Filer type (941) you have provided is not accurate.  What is a "filer type" I haven't been able to find an answer to this question anywhere.  I plan to reach out to the IRS but would like to know what it is that I should have ready to provide.  Thanks for any guidance.

Thanks for coming back, @frameofmind707-g. I'm here to help ensure you can successfully file your 941 forms in QuickBooks Online.

As an insight, the amount of employment taxes you reported on your Forms 941 or 944 determines which deposit schedule you must use. Whether you're a monthly or semiweekly filer.

You can visit the IRS rules on filing requirements and refer to Topic No. 758 to verify which type of filer you are.

Once you've verified your correct deposit schedule, follow the steps below on how to update it in QBO:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Taxes, click the Federal Taxes link.
  3. From the Preferences tab, click Change or add a new schedule

For further insights about the different types of deposit schedules for Federal 941, visit this link: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/employment-tax-due-dates.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help some more.
