I want all of my quickbooks wages and salaries booked against an accrued payroll account. How do I set up quickbooks online to do this?

Hello jimlemire,

 

QuickBooks allows you to modify the accounting setup for your payroll so you can choose your own expense accounts. Here's how to do it: 

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Under Preferences, choose Accounting.
  4. In the Wage Expense Accounts section, choose I use different accounts for different wages
  5. Choose the accounts. 
  6. Click on OK.

By making sure the previous transactions are updated, please enter the Starting Date in the "Want to update existing transactions, too?" section.  Please wait until the update is finished. Then, your payrolls will be posted in the chosen accounts moving forward.
