Import voluntary payroll deductions

Hi, I'm new to the community and I cannot find what I need.  I have several clients who use QB Online Payroll - and I need to provide a method to import voluntary payroll deductions (health insurance, etc).   Can someone help?  Thank you!

Hello rnm0309. 

 

Thanks for stopping by the Community, I'm happy to show you what you have to do to add voluntary payroll deductions. Follow along below:

  1. Select Workers, then Employees.
  2. Select an employee from the list.
  3. Select Edit ✎ next to Pay.
  4. In section 5, select + Add a new deduction or + Add deductions.
  5. From the Deductions/contributions ▼ dropdown menu, select the existing deduction you want to assign for your employee.
  6. From the Amount per pay period ▼icon, choose $ amount or % of gross pay and enter the $ amount or percentage. Do the same for the Company-paid contribution as applicable.
  7. Select OK, then Done.

Import voluntary payroll deductions

Hi Nick,

I want to import the deductions.   Clients are companies with ~50 employees.    We are conducting online benefit enrollments (another platform) - and need to import the payroll deductions, rather than manually enter.  Let's say an employee has 10 additional deductions - medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, disability, etc.  We're trying to provide a timesaving process.  I've only been able to find importing customers/products, etc., but not deductions.

 

Any options?  Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no method to import the deductions over automatically. The only available options are to either enter them manually or purchase the QuickBooks Payroll Elite product which includes the help of an onboarding specialist who manually imports all the deductions for you, on your behalf. If QuickBooks Elite payroll is something you'd be interested I'd suggest checking out this link, it highlights the product and can connect you with a sales rep to see if it would be the best product suited to you and your clients companies.
