Importing payroll from Intuit Online Payroll and Direct Deposits

I just took over doing bookkeeping for a client who was running his payroll through Quickbooks Full Service Payroll and then got switched over to Quickbooks Online Payroll.  I've noticed that when I import his payroll to his Quickbooks Desktop there are two entries for each employee that is imported into his check register.  One displays a split and shows the employees check with the payroll liability breakdown and the other shows "Direct Deposit" and no breakdown.  This causes a double deduction in the check register so I have to void the direct deposit duplication.  However, I just noticed that there is a negative amount reflected in the Direct Deposit Payables on the Chart of Accounts which I believe is caused by deleting those direct deposit entries.  Is this the way it should be importing through?  How do I correct this.

Importing payroll from Intuit Online Payroll and Direct Deposits

Hello there, Kimberly74.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop have different payroll features. There are data that will and won't convert when you migrate. You can check out this link on what to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Direct deposit liabilities have a zero balance and a negative liability is caused by duplicate or missing liability paychecks. You can recreate the voided direct deposit paycheck to balance it out. For more details on how to fix this, you can read through the Account balance for Direct Deposit liabilities is not zero link.

I'd also suggest reaching out to our Phone Support Team so they can remotely walk you through how to record voided direct deposit paychecks.

Keep me posted if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care and have a great day!
