IRS demands 944 but QB will not change me from 941, help?

I've been getting letters from the IRS demanding I change my filing from a 941 to a 944 but QBO will not allow any changes. I've called CS several times, they say they will, but it never happens. Additionally the IRS is demanding I change previous years to 944 as well. Any help of who I have to write to make this happen would be appreciated, like a general manager or VP in CS?

I'll help you accomplish your task in QuickBooks Online Payroll, @Otto Maddox

If the IRS or a state agency sends you a notice about a new deposit schedule or filing requirements, you'll need to update the account before the effective date.

Simply go to the Payroll settings and update your filing schedule from there. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Edit ✎ next to the federal or state tax deposit schedule you wish to update.
  3. Select Change.
  4. Choose the new filing and deposit schedule. Then, select an effective date.
  5. Click OK then Done.

For more info, you check out this article: Change your deposit and filing schedule.

You can also skim through this article about what an IRS or state tax notice means and what you need to do with the notice.

Please feel free to get back to me here for any additional questions about updating the deposit/filing schedule. I always have your back. Thanks for dropping in, and cheers for more success!

IRS demands 944 but QB will not change me from 941, help?

Hi, thank you but that doesn't do it. I'm locked out of changing the filing there without someone at QB doing it and they don't respond

Thanks for getting back with the Community, Otto Maddox.

To verify my understanding, are you saying that you're unable to change payroll settings because you're locked out of your QuickBooks Online account?

If so, you can use the Forgot your User ID or Password? to get back into it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the sign in screen.
  2. Choose your product.
  3. Click Forgot your User ID or Password?.
  4. Enter the account's phone number, email, or user ID in your available field.
  5. Press Continue.
  6. Choose a method to verify your identity.

If you're unable to get back into the account using these steps, I'd recommend continuing to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and see what options are available.

In the event you're able to sign in, but still can't update payroll settings, please get back with me here with more details.

I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a lovely day!
