It tells me I still have to add trips, but I have all of my trips from Jan-Jun marked as business vs. personal, but it doesn't transfer to my taxes, and task remains.

I'm here to ensure you're able to transfer your trips to your taxes and remove the task notification, @barry-floore-gma. This way, you can keep your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account accurate.

Based on your description of the issue above, it seems that you've imported your trips from January to June of 2020. Then, you've performed it by selecting the task notification in your account's Home page. Since the system isn't recognizing it and the task remains, let's do some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue.

There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed pages, thus causing some unusual responses. You can log in to your QBSE account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Home page and check the add trips task. If the notification is no longer there, return to your default browser and clear its cache and cookies. This is to remove the older data which causes the systems performance issue and refreshes it. However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend viewing your account using other supported browsers.

Additionally, the system lets you automatically track your miles using our QBSE app. You can learn how to use it by checking out this article's step-by-step  guide: Automatically track mileage in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm also adding these articles about the two general tax deduction methods available in QBSE. This way, you'll get to decide on what to use when you file your taxes.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

I've done all of this - the task remains and it doesn't look like deductions have been applied
