Let me help you for today, @jgowrie

This isn't normal for 12 hours to elapse before the upload. Any task you do or information you add to the app shows up on the web, and vice versa.

If you're using an Android device, here's how to fix mileage tracking issues.

First, examine the general location settings on your phone or tablet. Make sure you’ve allowed the QuickBooks Self-Employed app to run in the background. Then ensure to disconnect Wi-Fi networks while driving.

Second, fine-tune the mileage settings. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Menu ☰ icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Choose Mileage settings.
  4. To improve accuracy in slow-moving traffic, turn on the Track slow speed trips setting.
  5. To enhance accuracy recording addresses, turn on the Boost location accuracy setting.

Also, Turn off background data and battery restrictions. When it's on, they can interfere with the accuracy of QuickBooks Self-Employed GPS mileage tracking.

If you haven't already, update the app to the latest version.

  1. On your device, open the Google Play store.
  2. Go to the home screen, and choose the Menu ☰ icon.
  3. Click My apps & games.
  4. In the Updates tab, find and select the QuickBooks Self-Employed app.
  5. Click Update.

Lastly is to update your phone or tablet to the latest version of Android OS.

Otherwise, if you use an Apple device, here's how to fix mileage tracking issues for iPhone or iPad.

Additionally, learn how to categorize the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks.

I was running 14.2 ios and there were two patches release which I didn't update.  After the update to 14.4 the app started working properly again.
