In QuickBooks Online, we suggest consulting an accountant or a tax advisor to help you manage employees living or working in different states. Once they're in a different state, it impacts your state withholding or unemployment payroll taxes, which we need a recommendation from your accountant.
If you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll Full Service and need to add a work location in a new state, you'll have to contact our Payroll Support Team to help you with the setup. Here's how:
On the other hand, if you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite, you can add a work location in a different or the same state by following the steps below.
