I can walk you through how to move your payroll transaction to your preferred account.
After you create new payroll expense accounts, you can update your payroll settings so future payroll transactions will be posted there. Here's how:
- Click the Gear icon and select Payroll settings.
- Scroll down to the page and click the pencil icon under Accounting.
- To update the account, just click the pencil icon and select the desired payroll account to your Chart of Accounts.
- Click Continue and then Done.
QuickBooks will not retroact existing transactions and if you want to update them to the changes made, you'll want to create a journal entry to move the funds. I recommend getting help from an accountant so they can help you identify the correct accounts to debit and credit.
