Hey there, @david-barr.

 

The error appeared because the IRS has the draft form. The 941 return should be available in QuickBooks as soon as the IRS has finalized it. Once the updates are ready, we will remove the watermark.

RE: The error appeared because the IRS has the draft form.

 

It's not an error. It's a message.  And it's covered in the payroll update information.

Just ensure to keep your software and payroll up-to-date so you have the latest features and fixes.

 

With the payroll update 22012 (June 18, 2020), Form 941 for Standard and Enhanced payroll subscribers is already included. The same with Enhanced Payroll for Accountants payroll subscribers. They already included Form 941 for reporting agents.

I still have the message Form not Final, has the IRS completed and is this now up to date in QB? I ran all updates and still have the same problem.

Because of the current events, there are updates made in taxes. Government compliant form changes which QuickBooks may not finalize the report as of now until a week or at the end of the quarter. Also, our payroll team is currently working with the final details that'll be provided by the IRS. You can also visit: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f941.pdf to access a draft of Form 941.

We're unable to provide the turn around time as to when the option to remove the watermark for you printed 941 forms be available. You can contact our Payroll Care Team so someone can help you generate it without the watermark.

 

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Hit Search for something else.
  5. Enter Watermark on 941 Form in the Tell us more about your question: field.
  6. Click Start a Message.

Has quickbooks fixed their issue at all? how do we file 941 form since quickbooks has not fixed this?

The IRS has released the final version of the 941 form. It's already available in QuickBooks. 

 

If you can still see the watermark, we have a few steps for you to try to resolve it:

  1. Update payroll tax table.
  2. Reset QuickBooks update.
  3. Close and re-open the program.

Once done, let's try to prepare the 941 form.

Hi Kristine, I have updated and restarted quickbooks. Still seeing that it is a draft only. There is a message on the 941 form which I've taken a screenshot of. If Quickbooks has updated the form, why am I seeing this message, and still unable to print a version of the 941 without the "DO NOT FILE" watermarkQB screen shot.png

Thanks for letting us know that you've updated your QuickBooks. At this time, it's only available as a draft which indicates that you cannot use the final 941 yet as it is still showing as pending. It'll be released this coming July 01, 2021.
 

With that being said, it'll be available on your end after you run the payroll date on July 01, 2021. You can follow these steps to make the form 941 available on that date:

 

  1. Select Employees, then select Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Select the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  3. Select Download Latest Update. An informational window appears when the download is complete.

 

To prepare and print Form 941, Schedule B, and Form 940, you can read through this article: Prepare your forms, and print and save them.

today, june 30th..I just tried my 941.  It still has watermark "do not file draft only".  I DO have the latest 22112 update.  what can I do?

As mentioned by my colleague, the form will be released this July 1, 2021. This is the rationale why it's still showing the do not file draft only message on your end. 

 

With that being said, it'll be available on your end after you run the payroll date tomorrow. You can follow the steps provided by @SarahannC to make the 941 forms available on that date.

How long is this going to take? Working in a tax office having to complete numerous clients, puts a major hardship on getting these out to clients in a timely manner so they are not late filling their quarterly returns?

I also wanted to complete all the tasks on time. I can give more details about filing quarterly forms.

 

As mentioned above, the new quarterly form is available to release on July 01, 2021. Let's ensure to have the latest payroll tax table update. Rest assured that you can file the form before the deadline.

 

In addition, make sure to update your QuickBooks by tomorrow. You can follow the steps provided by my peers SarahannC above to get the latest payroll update. I've run the payroll update this morning, 7/1/2021 - Download entire payroll update

 

I am still receiving the same DRAFT message when I try to submit my Q2 IRS 941 filing.

 

Is there anything new hear to report on when this will be updated in QB Payroll?

I thought to electronically file for a client I have to have an 8655 filled out and receive a pin? I usually get the 941 sent to my clients immediately so it can be signed and sent back for me to mail. How long will it be before the final copy is available???? This is crazy
