Hi @jdunnventures-ya,
Thank you for getting in touch with us here in the Community space. I'm here to share information about updating the SUI rate in QuickBooks Online.
QuickBooks maintains a connection in every state to ensure the minimum rate is up-to-date in our system. We base it on the information they share as soon as there's an update from their end.
I recommend you check with your state agency and verify the updated UI. This way, you'll be able to make changes to your payroll preferences without getting an error.
If the rate is correct and the error persists, you can request a callback from our Payroll Support Team. Our specialist can provide further assistance to update the information on your behalf.
Our Customer Support Team for QuickBooks Online Payroll - Core, Premium is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday). For QuickBooks Full Service Payroll, QuickBooks Online Payroll Elite/Premium, any time, any day.
Here's how:
- Click the Help tab in the upper-right corner.
- Go to the Assistant tab.
- Click Get help from a human.
- Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

Since your state sets your SUI rate, you'll also need to make an update in QuickBooks if there are changes. For your reference, I've included a link I find helpful for you: Update your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate.
Reach out to me by leaving a comment below for any concerns with payroll or the unemployment insurance rate. I'll keep an eye on your response. Have a great day.
