New Bank Account for Payroll

I closed the bank account I was using to process payroll and tax liabilities through QuickBooks Desktop. I opened up a new bank account for payroll. How do I go about updating the new bank information and updating where the payroll taxes will be withdrawn from? We pay our taxes through QuickBooks desktop. I just want to make sure everything is set up properly so I don’t have any issues and don’t forget to update anything.

We can update your bank information through My Payroll Service based on your QuickBooks Desktop Payroll service, Obsidian31. I'm here to fill you in with details regarding this matter.

To update your bank account information for payroll, where your taxes will be deducted, you can do so in the My Payroll Service section of your employee account. Follow the steps below, which correspond to the QBDT service you are using:

  • If you're using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Basic, Standard, Enhanced
  1. Log into your QBDT account, then go to Employees.
  2. Select My Payroll Service, then Accounts/Billing Information.
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login.
  4. Go to the Payroll Info section, then select Edit under Direct Deposit Bank Account.
  5. Enter your payroll PIN, then select Continue.
  6. Type in your new bank account info, then click Update. When you receive the confirmation message, choose Close.

  • QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted
  1. Log into your QBDT account, then go to Employees.
  2. Choose My Payroll Service, then Billing/Bank Information to access the Payroll Service Account Maintenance pages.
  3. Under Bank Account Information, click Edit next to Bank Account.
  4. Type in your payroll PIN, then select Continue.
  5. Enter your new bank account details, then click Update. When you receive the confirmation message, choose Close.

After that, follow Step 5 to verify your bank account and Step 6 to change your default bank account in preferences in this article: Change your payroll bank account.

Moreover, if you need to change your bank account right away due to suspicious activities or have already closed your current bank account, you can reach out to our QBDT support team.

Additionally, given that your bank account is fresh, you can start downloading transaction data to your bank feeds.

Shoot a reply if you encounter difficulties changing your QBDT bank details or working with other areas. I'll be sure to stay in the loop.

I've followed these instructions and clicked update but it just hangs there and I don't receive a confirmation. Do you have any suggestions for me to get the bank account changed?

Since you're having issues updating the bank account, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. This way, one of our agents can review your account in a secure environment and help update the account. You can use the steps I'm including below to connect with our team directly.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us. This opens the Help window.
Tip: you can also press F1 on your keyboard to open the Help window.
  3. Click on Contact Us in the help window.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. I'm happy to help anytime. Take care!

New Bank Account for Payroll

Hello, Mike. Could you please confirm whether your current bank account is closed or if you're changing it due to suspicious activity? Additionally, which version of QuickBooks Desktop Payroll are you using?

If your existing account is closed or if you suspect any suspicious activity, you need to take immediate action. If you're using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll (Basic, Standard, or Enhanced), you'll need to download and submit a Direct Deposit Bank Account Change form. However, if you're using Assisted Payroll, you'll need to upload a completed QuickBooks Assisted Bank Change form.

If it's simply a standard account update, please have your new bank name, routing number, account number, Principal Officer's address, and Payroll PIN ready.

Next, add your new bank account to your QuickBooks chart of accounts to ensure payroll transactions post correctly. Start by selecting Lists > Chart of Accounts. Click on Accounts > New. When prompted, select Bank and click Continue. Enter your bank details, then select Save and Close.

After that, proceed with Steps 3-6 in this article to complete the process: Change your payroll bank account.

Once you've completed these steps, you can process and submit your payroll.
