New EIN

Client changed from SMLLC to S-Corp in January, 2019 and forms were filed with the IRS.  This happened during the gov't shutdown and we never heard from them, even with a phone call or two it was always put off.  We filed 2019 like it was an S-Corp.  Return for the year was filed and requested switch was done at that time.  Because of the Covid shutdown, we finally heard back from the IRS in June that the S-Corp status was approved beginning January 1, 2019.  We have been filing payroll under the old EIN and now the IRS has provided a new EIN.  How do I get the new EIN into QuickBooks and then file the second quarter 941 under it?  I don't want to start a whole new QB file since all the records going back to 2019 are there under the old EIN.

New EIN

In Company you can change the EIN. You may also have to change it in payroll. Unless you have a subscription with multiple company option for payroll you will possibly have to add a new company with EIN and then remove old company EIN.

First thing you can do is create a complete copy of your company with a different name to differentiate. In the old company remove psyroll and in new compzny after edit of EIN, manage your payroll.

There are enough possible pitfalls, and I have only changed EIN on a company with no payroll, that you may want to place a call to payroll support before doing anything
