There seems to be an issue with the NJ-927 form calculations.  When there is third party sick pay added into an employee's pay (NJ Disability), the calculations on the NJ-927 Form either are incorrect or the form is set up to require certain lines to match when they should not.  Any insights into this problem, or how to correct it in order to file the form?

Hello there, @EAnders.

In QuickBooks, the NJ disability will not be added to your employee's pay. To get more details about the calculations on the NJ-927, I'd recommend reaching out with your state agency.

I've come to help make sure your NJ-927 form calculations are correct, @yesenia140.

You'll have to get the newest payroll tax table in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll to have the most current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal, payroll tax forms and e-file and pay options. This way, each line of your payroll tax forms (i.e., NJ-927 line 8b) will display the appropriate amount. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Choose Download Entire Update.
  4. Click Download Latest Update or Update. A window appears when the download is complete.

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

To know more about the latest payroll update as well as earlier releases, you can check out this article: Latest payroll news and updates.

In case the issue persists after doing so, you need to review the setup of your payroll item and make sure it's correct. Go to the Payroll Item List window from the Lists menu.

Also, I've included an article that'll guide you in ensuring your compliance with state payroll tax regulations: New Jersey Payroll Tax Compliance.
