In cases like this, I suggest contacting the IRS to check and confirm the details they have on their records. They're also the one who will verify the CP2100A notice that you receive and guide on what you'll need to do. You can also find this information in page 9 of the General Instructions for Certain Information Returns.

I have tried to call the IRS and I can not reach a customer rep. to help. I did reach the correct ext. line for the CP2100A notice but it just goes to a recording of what is already explained on the paper notice. Also page 9 is if I made a mistake but I have what is exactly on the vendors W-9, so I think they would make the correction. Something they put on their W-9 doesn't match IRS records.
