Notice: CP2100A The TIN's are correct, I think the error may be from using the buisness name instead of the name box?

I received this in the mail the other day. It seems I had a few vendors without TIN's reported to the IRS. This was for 2020 reporting. The vendors that had missing TIN's have been updated. However, the list where the document says incorrect TIN/name, I am confused. The TIN's are correct and I think the names are correct as well. I think the error may be that I used the business name for tax purposes instead of the name box (1) on the vendor's w9. Is this where the name error is coming from? Also is there a way to see if a TIN/name is incorrect on the IRS website?

Hi there, @user76706. I want to make sure that you're getting the best help available for your question.

In cases like this, I suggest contacting the IRS to check and confirm the details they have on their records. They're also the one who will verify the CP2100A notice that you receive and guide on what you'll need to do. You can also find this information in page 9 of the General Instructions for Certain Information Returns.

Let me know if you have further questions concerning QuickBooks. Just leave a comment below and I'll be back to help you. Have a nice day

I have tried to call the IRS and I can not reach a customer rep. to help. I did reach the correct ext. line for the CP2100A notice but it just goes to a recording of what is already explained on the paper notice. Also page 9 is if I made a mistake but I have what is exactly on the vendors W-9, so I think they would make the correction. Something they put on their W-9 doesn't match IRS records.
