One of my employees told me that her social security number is incorrect by one digit. Can Quickbooks fix this for me?

I just want to know if I need to file forms directly with the IRS and SSA to correct or Quickbooks can do these things for me.

I can help you get this fixed, erica14.

If you haven't filed the forms reporting to this incorrect SSN, we can update it from your employee's profile. I'm here to guide you how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and select Employees.
  2. Choose the employee's name.
  3. Select Edit employee.
  4. In section 1, select the edit (pencil) icon to update W-4 information.
  5. Delete the displayed digits.
  6. Retype the entire number.

If you already filed any forms reporting to an employee's incorrect SSN, you must amend these forms using the correct SSN.
