Overtime under Other

Why is overtime pay listed in P&L under Payroll Expenses - Other? Is this normal or I can change a setting in order to show under Wages?

Thank you very much for your suggestion/solution!

Sam

Overtime under Other

You can definitely change that, Sam H.

The overtime rate is normally under payroll expenses and gross wage. If you want to change the expense account of this item, you can follow the steps I've listed below:

  1. Go to the  Lists menu.
  2. Select Payroll Item List.
  3. Double-click the overtime rate payroll item.
  4. Double-click the payroll item you want to change.
  5. In the Edit payroll item window, click Next until you reach the Expense Account or Liability Account drop-down list.
  6. Select the new expense or liability account, and click Next until you see Finish.

Keep in mind that changes you've made are retroactive and will affect all previous transactions. For more resources and tips while working with your payroll transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, you can check out some topics from our Help Article Page.
