Pay payroll liabilities with a credit card

I would like to pay our employees' prepaid legal service with a credit card.  These premiums are withheld from the employees' paychecks, so I need to "Pay Liabilities".  How do I do this by a credit card transaction?

Thanks for entrusting your concern to us. I have some information about paying payroll liabilities in QuickBooks.

 

QuickBooks has E-Pay service where you don't need to print and mail checks to pay your payroll liabilities. With a few clicks in QuickBooks Desktop, you can send your payments electronically to the appropriate agencies.

 

However, this service requires a bank information not a credit card account. If you wish to set up this feature, refer to the following information below.

 

To file a payment electronically, or E-Pay, through QuickBooks Desktop you must have:

  • Supported version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Active Quickbooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced Service.
  • The form is supported for E-File in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • The payroll liability is supported for E-Pay in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Login credentials required by the receiving agency of the form or liability.

The enrollment and the process of getting the login requirements are owned by the State tax agencies. Also, the time it takes to complete the enrollment and get the login requirements depend on the State tax agencies.

 

As soon as you have enrolled and obtained the login requirements, you will be able to conveniently submit your e-payments and e-file your state forms in QuickBooks. To enroll with your State tax agency and obtain the login requirements:

  1. Check if you are required to enroll with your State tax agency, and if there are login requirements. You can visit the Payroll Tax Compliance page if you need to enroll with your State Tax Agency and if there are Login Requirements for you to e-file or e-pay.
  2. Select your State.
  3. Go to E-file & Pay tab.  This will take you to the list of forms available for e-file/epay in QuickBooks.
  4. Click the View link next to a form and read the Form Details.
  5. Follow the Filing Enrollment Instructions and Payment Enrollment Instructions in our Payroll Tax Compliance page.
  6. Obtain the Login Requirements.  Most of the time, you obtain your Login Requirements during or after your enrollment with your State Tax Agency.

Once you're enrolled and you have obtained the login requirements, you can start e-paying in QuickBooks.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Payroll Canter.
  3. In the Payroll Center, click Pay Liabilities tab.
  4. In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, select the liability you want to pay.
  5. Click the View/Pay button.
  6. Click the E-Pay button.
  7. In the Agency Login window, enter your login information.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. Click Close.
