Payroll Liabilities Void and Reissue check

A vendor voided a liability check in a prior period.  In order to clear up the account, they have asked me to void and reissue the check.  What is the best way to do this since it will affect prior period?

Payroll Liabilities Void and Reissue check

Hello there, @PVince. I'm here to ensure you're able to reach your goal today.

Before we start, may I ask if you're referring to a payroll liability check or check for a vendor? Adding further information would be greatly appreciated.

If you're referring to the vendor check, we can void a check from a prior period. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Vendor menu and choose Vendor Center.
  2. Select the vendor with the check.
  3. Double click the transaction to edit.
  4. In the Delete dropdown menu, click Void.
  5. Choose Save & Close and then select OK.

Then enter a deposit in the current period for the total amount and post it to principal & interest accounts. In the description, put the Check number that you're voiding.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu at the top menu.
  2. On the drop-down list, select Make Deposits.
  3. Fill out the necessary information.
  4. Once done, click Save & Close.

Lastly, reissue a check as needed.

If you mean something else, feel free to get back to this thread. This way, I can provide other steps to help you resolve your issue.

I've also added this article to manage checks in QuickBooks Desktop: Create, modify, and print checks.

Feel free to comment down below if you need clarifications. I'll be around to help you more. Have a nice day.
