Currently, you're unable to use a desktop enhanced payroll license for online payroll. This is because QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop have their own separate platforms. There are features and functionalities that work differently, and they’re designed to operate independently.
You'll need to subscribe to any type of QuickBooks Online Payroll if you want to use the Online payroll version. That said, if you have already a QuickBooks account, you can subscribe within the account.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
- From the Billing & Subscription tab.
- Go to the QuickBooks Online Payroll section. Then, choose between a Free 30-day trial or Subscribe.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Hit Done.
