payroll problem: adding a new employee error "this name is being used by another vendor"...

hi, i'm using payroll for the first time and I'm setting up a new employee who used to be a freelance vendor, but I'm getting the message: "Business Validation Error: This name is being used by another vendor. Please use a different name. You can merge names only when their type (customer, vendor or employee) matches."

what can I do to resolve this?

This error message is generally associated with the name already existing in the file, such as a vendor or employee. You can add a middle initial of the employee to make it different from the existing name.
