Payroll Tax

This may be a stupid question.. I am a new owner.  How does the IRS know who the employee is that I am paying quarterly payroll tax on... I only have one employee.

Thanks,

Tyler

Payroll Tax

Let me share some details about your Payroll tax, BRHoodCleaning.

Once the forms are filed with the IRS, that's the time they'll know.  For example, the 941 forms, indicate the numbers of your employees.

To prepare and print Form 941, Schedule B, and Form 940, you can read through this article: Prepare your forms, and print and save them

Also, here's an article you can read to learn more about compliance with federal tax regulations and how do QuickBooks populates the lines on Form 941.

Let me know if you have other questions about payroll forms. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a great day!

Do I need to mail the employee's W-4 to the IRS? I have the the Form 941 ready to be mailed to the IRS and I see where it asked how many employees.. I have 1 W-2 employee. Is that all they need.. I am new to this and its confusing how the IRS works

Payroll Tax

Hello BRHoodCleaning!

I understand that payroll is sometimes complex, that's why we are here to help.

You don't need to file the Form W-2 yet. You only need to submit it once a year as part of your year-end filing. The W-4 is for the employer's records only. It's your reference to know how much to withhold from each paycheck.

Additionally, you may require to file the state unemployment insurance (SUI) and state income tax (SIT) form. Visit our compliance page to know the forms you need to process: Payroll Tax Compliance Links.

Here are the links you can browse. This will explain the forms you need to submit quarterly and yearly.

I know that you're new to payroll. I encourage you to check this article to understand the basics of payroll processes: Payroll 101.

Comment again here if you have additional questions with your payroll. Take care!
