prior year paycheck unprinted (dated 9/14/18). QB allowed me to change date to today's (041218), printed paycheck with current date to allow cashability. QB now prohibits changing date back to original date.

I was an idiot :(  Changed the date of a prior year's unprinted check so that it would be cashable.  QB did not prohibit the date year change.  Printed paycheck but not QB isn't allowing date change back to prior year.  Withholdings and all other payroll taxes and report filings for prior year included that check.  Now what?

Did you close last years books or give out an accountant's copy which closes last year? Open the period and you can change the date. But wait until your accountant sends back the change file.

But before you go to extra trouble, did it in fact change payroll numbers from last year

It's been a long time since QB let you change the year on a paycheck, since it can't cope with that well.  Are you sure you changed the year?

I ask partially as today's date is not 04/12/18.
