PTO YTD amounts are way to high

I just recently updated a payroll client to the 2019 version and now their pay stubs have YTD payroll that is way too high.  I'm not sure why this is happening and I don't know how to fix it.

I've attached an example of an employee whose paystub says she has accrued 125.12 hours of PTO this year, but that's impossible.  She's earned about 9.77 hours so far this year.  Would this be because the hours carryover from the prior year?  Is it carrying over hours from the beginning of her employment?

Re: PTO YTD amounts are way to high

Welcome and thank you for posting here in the Community, @10keyremedies.

I'm here to help check the Year-To-Date (YTD) amount in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can start by opening/running the Payroll Summary and check the amount accrued depending on the period covered by the report.

To open the report:

  1. Click on Reports at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Employees & Payroll.
  3. Click on Payroll Summary.
  4. Make the necessary customization and refresh the report.

If the accrued amount is correct when running the report and incorrect in the pay stubs, I suggest verifying and rebuilding the date in QBDT.

For the detailed steps and process, you can check this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

As always, you may get in touch with our QuickBooks Support if you need further assistance with the process. For the support's contact information:

  1. Go to:
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Let me know if you have any other payroll concerns, I'll be right here to help you. Have a good one!
