QB Desktop - enhanced payroll... questions about direct deposit.. bank of america.. and QB Online

I have been using QB Desktop for over a decade (currently Pro 2018) to take care of my payroll. I have "Enhanced" payroll through Intuit for which I pay a few hundred a year, and an oddly varying amount monthly (roughly $20) for them basically to figure the withholding for me, for the checks I write to 13 staff. I still have to forward my QB file to my accountant quarterly to take care of filing forms. Not sure if that's something which I should be getting already through Intuit at the subscription level I'm at or not.

I'm interested in going with direct deposit, which I see I can do with Bank of America (and other places no doubt).

I've twice called BoA to talk with them - and I guess they have their own "enhanced" payroll to work w/Intuit?? They are confusing me, or they're not understanding me, I'm not sure. Is this the same enhanced service, or a second one which I would need in addition to what I already pay Intuit annually and monthly?? !

Any (real) advantage to switching to QB online?

So.. I just need a little directional help here I suppose - so sort out the apples from the oranges !

THANKS

QB Desktop - enhanced payroll... questions about direct deposit.. bank of america.. and QB Online

I've got just the information you're looking for regarding your QBO and Payroll subscription, @BLNT.

If you're using the Do it Yourself (DIY) payroll service (QuickBooks Desktop Basic or Enhanced, QuickBooks Online Payroll, Intuit Online Payroll), we'll walk you through setting up the basics of your payroll. Otherwise, if you have the Do it for You (DIFY) payroll service (QuickBooks Desktop Assisted, QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, or QuickBooks Online Payroll Premium), we'll do most of the setup for you. Besides, Intuit files and pay taxes for you. You can check out this article to compare QuickBooks payroll services features: QuickBooks Payroll Services and Features for QuickBooks Desktop.

In addition to that, you can definitely setup direct deposit for your Bank of America account. If you opt to get payroll service through the BOA, I'd suggest reaching out to them for more options.

With QuickBooks Online, you can access your data anytime and anywhere. You can have multiple people who can access up-to-date information simultaneously. QBO upgrades are free and support is at no additional cost. On the other hand, QBO has its limitations. Refer to this article for more info: Comparing Quickbooks Online to the QuickBooks Desktop versions.

You'll want to check this article which will further explain any limitations to converting your data: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Please keep in touch if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back. Have a great day!
