QB desktop is changing the amount of vacation accrual that I am paying out.

For example today, I am trying to pay out the available $643.12 for an employee, but QB drops it to $551.50 when I try to post it, and leaves $91.62 as an accrual. I've tried everything I can think of.  It doesn't matter how many times I type $643.12... it just switches it back.  I've even tried deleting it and redoing it.  Nothing works.  Anybody else had this happen and know how to fix it?

Hi there, Schnooper.

We can check the employee's vacation setup to see if it has the correct available hours. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees Center menu.
  2. Double-click the employee name.
  3. Go to the Payroll Info tab.
  4. Click on Sick/Vacation.

Then, enter the correct hours. You can follow the steps in this reference for details: Set up and pay sick and vacation time

If it shows the correct info, let's repair QuickBooks. There could be some payroll update issues that's causing the accrual to show different amount.

  1. Restart your computer to close unnecessary programs interfering with QuickBooks.
  2. Back up your QuickBooks company file.
  3. Select Start and then Control Panel. (In Windows 8/8.1: From the Start menu, open Search and type Control Panel. From the results, select Control Panel.)
  4. Select Programs and Features. If necessary, choose Uninstall a program. (If you don't see these options, select Programs, then Program Features.)
  5. Select QuickBooks in the list of programs and choose Uninstall/Change.
  6. Select Continue, then Next.
  7. Select Repair then Next. Wait for the Repair to complete.
  8. Choose Finish. Restart your computer if prompted.
  9. Don't forget to download the latest QuickBooks release and the latest payroll tax table when you open QuickBooks.
