You'll want to start updating QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. Here are steps to guide you through:
- Go to the File menu, then Close Company/Logoff.
- Go back to the File menu and choose Exit.
- Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop, then select Run as administrator.
- While on the No Company Open screen, pick Update QuickBooks from the Help menu.
- In the Options tab, choose Mark All and Save.
- Mark the Reset Update box in the Update Now tab.
- Click the Get Updates button.
- Once the Update Complete appears, close and re-open the program.
- If you get the message to install the update, select Yes. Restart your computer after the installation.
You can then proceed by downloading the latest tax table update:
- Go to Employees.
- Choose Get Payroll Updates.
- Click to select Download the entire payroll update.
- Select Update.
- Click Close.
Once done, your QuickBooks will automatically do an auto-correction on the next payroll. This is to ensure the employee's payroll information is correct.
