Buy nowIs there ANY WAY to get nontaxable reimbursements to show somewhere OTHER THAN gross pay?? The payroll reports for QBO are TERRIBLE as it is. I just don't understand why they cannot make payroll reports look like the ones in Desktop!
So, what do I do? Just keep exporting to Excel and nuking the reimbursement line out? I'm getting tired of that.
Thanks!
I appreciate you raising this matter, @SirMatthew. I can see why you'd want reimbursements reported separately from gross pay. Currently, QBO Payroll includes nontaxable reimbursements in gross pay for reporting, and there isn't a way to display them separately.
To clarify, when you process reimbursements through QBO Payroll, they are included in gross pay for reporting purposes. However, these reimbursement amounts are generally non‑taxable and should not be treated as taxable income; they do not affect the employee’s tax obligations.
As a workaround, if you prefer not to include the reimbursement in gross income, you can create a separate check. That ensures the reimbursement won’t be reported as part of the employee’s taxable wages.

I had the same issue. I moved everything to the desktop version. The desktop version of QB's has a decent payroll module. You can work it to your needs so much easier and work it the way you want it to be worked. QBO is not the best system.
And going forward, all new users who opt in on QBO payroll, have to use their filing system which may or may not be accurate.
