Quick Books Payroll

Awhile back there was an announcement from Intuit that there would be an extra day for processing payroll. Now when I start to submit the same notice appears of a possible $100 late fee. Please advise.

Thanks for the clarification, @lsf2.

I’m here to share some details about the late fees in processing late payroll in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

QuickBooks wants to ensure you'll be able to pay your employees on time. Thus, you'll be required to submit your paycheck before 5:00 pm Pacific Time (PT), 2 banking days before the pay date. The $100 late fee will take effect if you missed submitting your payroll before 5:00 pm PT.

To avoid any penalties and late fees, you’ll want to ensure to process your payroll on time. For the complete overview of payroll late fee, check out this article for reference: Assisted payroll ancillary fee schedule.

If you’re able to submit your payroll on time and received the notice about a possible $100 late fee, then I’d suggest contacting our Support team. There, they’ll be able to securely check your account and investigate the reason why you’re being prompt for a late fee. Here’s how to contact them in your QBDT software:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter a brief discussion of your concern and simply click Let’s talk.
  5. Then choose a way to connect with them.

You can also refer to this link for more details: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

In case you’ve missed submitting your payroll on time, you can utilize this article that can guide you on the right action to take: Process Late Payroll Or Send Backdated Paychecks In QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with about processing payroll in QBDT. I’m always around ready to help you. Take care and keep safe!

Did the extra day to submit get eliminated then? There was an email sent out mentioning as long as we submitted 24 hours in advance there would no extra fee.

Thank you for replying, lsf2.

The free 24-hour direct deposit is only offered to QuickBooks Online Payroll and QuickBooks Full Service Payroll. That could be the one that you have read.

If you're still having a concern with the fee, I would recommend contacting our Support to check your billing information. You can use the steps that JasroV shared.

I'm just around if you need anything else.
