Let me discuss with you how Sick Time Accrual Maximums works in QuickBooks Desktop.
In QuickBooks Desktop 2019, you have the option to select Maximum hours for the year as your accrual limit when setting up sick and vacation pay. Choosing this type of accrual limit when an employee reaches the limited hours, QuickBooks will then stop accruing hours until the employee next year.
However, QuickBooks Desktop 2018 currently doesn't have the option to choose Maximum hours for the year as your accrual limit. If you wish to have this feature, I recommend upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest version.
In case you're done upgrading, you can follow the steps below on how to set up sick pay maximums in QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how:
- Go to the Edit menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Choose Payroll and Employee.
- Go to the Company Preferences
- Select Sick and Vacation.
- Under Set accrual limit, select Maximum hours for the year.
- Under Maximum hours to carryover, enter the maximum number of unused sick hours that you are allowing your employees to carry forward into the new year.
